About AS2AC

“The First Amendment is first for a reason. Second Amendment is just in case the first one doesn’t work out.” — Dave Chappelle

AS2AC Mission Statement
We believe those who sell gun-related products and services should offer senior protectors of the 2nd Amendment no less consideration than what we typically receive from movie theaters and restaurants. Period.

(Brief) History
My confession: I’m a gun novice, a former NYC boy most of my adult life, now retired down in sunny Delray Beach, Florida. Never harbored any antipathy towards those who own guns, and likewise never had any moral or ethical problems with gun ownership. Just never thought about it much until recently…

That said, I’ve written extensively over the years about the deliberate erosion of our First Amendment rights — freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and freedom to petition our government. More recently, the Age of Covid has taught us many things, not least among them how easy it is for those in power to usurp our First Amendment freedoms — and how quick we are to relinquish them.

So some months ago, at the persistent urging of my better 75% (and the nagging suspicion that Dave Chappelle might be right), I took an Introduction to Handguns course at a local shooting range, then later purchased a semi-automatic pistol. Shortly thereafter, I applied for and secured a CCW permit. Over the course of the next several months I spent considerable time at my local shooting range, took additional training courses and visited several other retail gun shops. My experience revealed the following two truisms: first, being a well-trained and responsible gun owner is expensive — especially on a fixed income. Second, you can’t throw a brick at a gun shop or shooting range and not hit a senior citizen (turns out that a higher proportion of seniors own guns than any other age group).

Thus was born AS2AC, the American Senior 2nd Amendment Club — simply the best way to kill the above two birds with one stone (or shot).  Hope you stay tuned as we work toward launch next spring. Please feel free to contact me directly in the interim with your thoughts, comments and suggestions. I’d love to hear from you.

Be safe, and best to you and yours…

How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual... as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of.
